Streckewald Memorial Golf Classic Event History Celebrated
The Thomas C. Streckewald Memorial Golf Classic and Endowment Fund were established in 1995 in memory of the late Tom Streckewald, then director of Institutional Planning, Research and Outcomes Assessment at the University, following his sudden death in an automobile collision.
Streckewald was an eloquent advocate for the institution and its innovative programs for adult learners. His devotion to the University, the community and his family set a high standard of caring and concern that will continue to serve as an example to all who strive to achieve excellence.
“The Thomas Edison State University Foundation is proud to have Tom’s family involved with the outing each year,” said Misty Isak, associate vice president of Development at the University. “With the collaboration and support of his wife, Catherine, who serves as the honorary chair of the Committee and sons Kevin and Daniel, who serve as committee members, all are devoted to making the event a success for the University as ‘Team Streck.’”
To date, the Memorial Golf Classic has raised more than $605,000 and has helped to provide development opportunities for University staff as well as scholarships for deserving TESU students. Proceeds support the ‘Margin of Excellence Program,’ which also promotes staff development and student programs at the University.
The 23rd Annual Thomas C. Streckewald Memorial Golf Classic took place on May 8 at The Ridge at Back Brook in Ringoes, N.J. “The comradery and sportsmanship shown by our golfers and guests truly represent the spirit and memory of Tom Streckewald,” said Isak.
